Very much agreed. Good to get feedback like this. Content is always king so perhaps we look at incorporating these sorts of phrases into the site content for better engine hits.
You'll have to forgive me, I don't know what recommend button you mean, or which site it's on.
I believe yaauh1 is talking about this site, maybe it doesn't show up as the first result in your region sausage, or maybe you've missed it in his first post.
yaauh I think it's great that you've brought up this subject, I'd love to see Orx become more popular. I guess we should also be pumping up great games (and make orx visible in them) for that to happen
The Unity thing... it's a crowd thing I guess. There are so many teams using it. So really good word of mouth for them.
I do see the slant link. I don't think it was the first result last time. And I usually use duckduckgo.com rather than google as my search engine of choice. But if I:
"2d game engine" !g
then that link does come up first.
The only downside to these voting sites, is that it becomes a basic popularity contest where fan boys of other engines make their way around the other engines and deliberately down-vote them (even though they have never used orx).
We saw this with that other list that orx was once on.
Well, I imagine Orx isn't the right tool for every 2D game studio. Many non-programmers are plain-textphobic, so they need graphical editors for everything. Even some programmers prefer graphical programming . Besides, Orx requires you to code your game in C or C++, and that's probably not for everyone. It would probably also be much easier to hire someone for Unity. Aside from the obvious fact that many people use it, so you're likely to find someone experienced in it, there's also the thing that many people might not prefer to be employed in Orx projects, since it wouldn't look very useful on your CV.
All of this comes from someone who's never been employed as a game developer and is new to game development in general, so that's just my two cents.

True. But I think it's less of an issue here since there's a chance to explain why orx is good and avoid people who only look at vote.

Totally. I shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water. I made an account there today so will add things to it. I tried today but the site was playing up.

Indeed, haven't thought about this, for someone looking into entering the market it would be good to have some experience with it.

What do you propose? SEO and, more generally, web design aren't exactly my strong suit.
Oh, and welcome here!
I was actually thinking voting and adding more info to that wiki could help.

Hello.
Always definitely keen for people to contribute things to the wiki. There is a lot that still needs to be covered there.
Um, clicking the recommend button on Orx so it's higher up in the ranking.
But by all means click it!

I used it once and wouldn't change unity for orx.
