Hey all,

It's time for me to renew orx's site hosting. However, my current host, BlueHost, is getting quite expensive and I can't really afford it any longer.
To give an idea, it's ~300 USD for a 2 years period, and gets proportionally more expensive if I renew it for a shorter period.

I've been looking at alternatives and found a few that looked promising, but I wanted to know your opinion before making any decision:

- HostMetro: using a coupon I found online, the first 3 years are only ~66 USD and the renewal rates are frozen for ever (2.5-4.5 USD / month depending on the length)

- 9CubeHosting: this one is very cheap, but I couldn't find much information about its reliability

- Romarg: this one was mentioned by Enobayram and looks also promising.

Any suggestion? I have to do this before next month or the website will go offline for a while as I'll be on vacation for 3 weeks.

Cheers!

Hi all,
I think there should be a tools section in the forum where user created tools can be uploaded for others to use. I know there is many ORX related tools developed by some users, but they are scattered in the forum posts. It would be nice if all the tools are in one place.

For example, I had found a post where tiled map files could be loaded in ORX, but I now cant find that post, I will find it if I search it well, but it is not convenient. So it will be much helpful if we can find all user created ORX tools in one section. But this is my opinion, I want to know what others think about it.

If a tools section is created, then a list of required tools for ORX should be posted, either by me or by someone else.

For example I can change:
Is there any documentation or sample code on how one might handle multiple finger presses on iOS or Android?

Having seen quite some other programming related sites, I’ve noticed it's very convenient to have a bit more order between finished projects, projects in development and how-to questions.

Therefore, I’d like to suggest to devide the projects board up into three subforums:
-Releases (one would post finished projects here, or at least release-worthy ones)
- Under Development (development threads and discussions for one's projects go here.)
- How-to forum (tutorials and how-to questions not regarding a specific project go here)

That way it's very easy for outsiders to find finished games, alphas/betas of new projects and updates, or tutorials and/or answers to their issues without having to spend ages trying to sort out (ir)relevant topics.

Just a small suggestion: the Orx Twitter account should be easier to access on the front/home page. I had to do a search through the News section to find it, and the only post (this one) that mentioned it had the link spelled wrong :P (it went to http://twitter.com/orxproje instead of http://twitter.com/OrxProject)

Perhaps more of a Facebook presence too? I just searched around and I found a Page that had 0 fans...

Not that Facebook/Twitter are *necessary* or anything, but exposure is good---the more people aware of Orx, the more awesome projects get built.

Hey everyone!

So I was going through the projects today looking for some cool examples to download, however each example I went to was hosting by some temporary hosting service, and therefore none of the projects I tried to download was available.

How about you employ one of (http://php.resourceindex.com/Complete_Scripts/File_Management/File_Uploading/) file hosting solutions? I don't think think it would be that difficult to configure, and I do believe that BlueHost allows unlimited transfer/space. This could be abused but I believe most of those scripts are (or can be) easily configurable with a captcha of some sort or integrated with this forum to prevent abuse. Just a suggestion, I want to see some more projects! Take it easy
